Sin City Styling Brand Kit

I was given a wonderful opportunity to create the logo and brand identity of Sin City Styling, a mobile dog grooming company out of Las Vegas. Since I was hired as a freelance designer, I was fully responsible over my work, my effort, and my time. I was given a deadline three weeks after I began the project, and finished all the elements they asked for within just two.

I focused on using type that would be legible from a distance and readable to anyone the van passes by. Emphasis was placed on Sin City through hierarchy, color, and the use of a script-like typeface reminiscent of casino signs. Since the name and motto of the company could be easily applied to a human styling company, I decided to introduce the paw prints and grooming shears to help establish the brand is for pets.

When I was hired on for this project, the name “Sin City Styling” had been finalized, but there was a struggle with deciding on the color palette, type, and imagery. I was told going into this project that the owner wanted to capture the energy and brightness of the Strip at night, so I looked to modern casino neon signs for my inspiration. At some point, the business owner sent me a photo of her own work sneakers to use as the basis for the pink, blue and yellow neons.

There was a huge sense of accomplishment I felt when I got to see the final design placed onto the grooming van. While I was briefly involved in the creation of the elements needed for the van, the van company was responsible for the final touches to ensure the design was placed and fitted properly. To complete this brand kit, I helped put together advertising for their social media, business cards, and an email flyer.

And, of course, stickers.
